Description

This activity consists of 2 separate video topics for hyperbaric technologists and nurses: (1) Increased Partial Pressure of Gases. The concepts of hypoxia, oxygen diffusion distance, oxygen toxicity, nitrogen narcosis, and high pressure nervous syndrome are presented. Presenter-Robert Sheffield (21 min). (2) Pathophysiology of Pressure Injuries. The underlying causes of barotrauma (ear, sinus, and pulmonary), decompression sickness, and air embolism are presented. The relevant anatomy is discussed.
